Another Major Project is Coming to Hainan! eSports Giant to Build a ‘Super Sports Complex’ in Sanya
Haitang Bay on the National Coast is set to welcome another major project following the success of Sanya’s Taikoo Li, Vanke Mall, Haitang Story, and the Super Mediterranean project. According to the latest disclosure from Sanya’s Investment Promotion Bureau, during the Hainan delegation’s visit to Macau from October 13th to 15th, Sanya officially signed an agreement with Xingjing Weiwu Group to develop the “Sanya Blue Power Sports Leisure Resort” in Haitang Bay. This collaboration marks the first deep dive into Hainan Free Trade Port by a leading enterprise in China’s eSports industry and a significant breakthrough in integrating “cultural tourism + sports + digital entertainment” in Haitang Bay.Sanya Blue Power Sports Leisure Resort: Immersive Sports and Entertainment Ecosystem.According to the cooperation agreement, the Sanya Blue Power Sports Leisure Resort will center on immersive experiences. The project will feature a cluster of sports facilities including eSports arenas, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and climbing walls. It is designed as a comprehensive sports leisure resort, combining sports competitions, recreational entertainment, family-friendly activities, and trendy social spaces.
Additionally, Xingjing Weiwu and Huanju Commercial Management will support Hainan’s exhibition economy and cultural sports events, with plans to bring in music festivals, electronic dance music festivals, comic cons, eSports events, and other sports competitions annually. He Youjun, Chairman and CEO of Xingjing Weiwu Group, and Chairman of Beijing Huanju Commercial Management Co., Ltd., stated that Sanya’s infrastructure and rich hotel resources make it an excellent destination for international audiences, offering the perfect combination of sports viewing and vacation experiences. As a digital entertainment company, Xingjing Weiwu is actively considering expanding its operations in Hainan and plans to introduce more international events, particularly eSports competitions, with full support from local policies.Xingjing Weiwu Group’s Expansion in eSportsFounded in 2018, Xingjing Weiwu Group is slated to be listed on the Nasdaq in July 2024 under the stock code NIPG, heralded as “China’s eSports Pioneer”. The group’s core business revolves around eSports club operations, including event management, digital sports, talent agencies, and eSports education. It owns two international eSports brands, eStar and NIP, and holds top-tier league positions such as LPL (League of Legends), KPL (Honor of Kings), and CFPL (CrossFire).
In August 2024, the group established a joint venture with the Home Inn Hotel Group to develop eSports-themed hotels, and in June 2025, it acquired Beijing Huanju Commercial Management Co., Ltd., expanding its business into commercial operations.Huanju Commercial Management, initially founded by Wang Sicong, was fully acquired by Xingjing Weiwu Group in June 2025 and has since become the group’s core platform for commercial operations. The company specializes in creating immersive consumer experiences through eSports IP, digital art, and other elements, owning over 30 leading trendy brands and maintaining deep partnerships with brands like Razer and Pop Mart.Current Commercial Landscape in Haitang Bay: High-End Foundation with Structural Gaps.As the core area of Sanya’s “International Tourism Consumption Center”, Haitang Bay’s commercial development has been built upon a “high-end hotel cluster + duty-free retail + cultural tourism” framework. The region’s solid customer base, supported by international hotel clusters like Hilton, Edison, Westin, and Atlantis, as well as tourist attractions such as the Haichang Dream Ocean City and Wuzhizhou Island, attracts over 10 million visitors annually, including a high-net-worth clientele with strong purchasing power.

The commercial scale in Haitang Bay is expanding rapidly, with Sanya International Duty-Free City (covering 398,100 square meters) becoming a dual-purpose attraction for both duty-free shopping and cultural tourism. Projects like Taikoo Li (360,000 square meters), Vanke Mall, and Haitang Story (163,000 square meters) are currently under construction, and the commercial space will increase by nearly 1 million square meters over the next 2-3 years. However, existing commercial offerings are still heavily reliant on traditional retail and lack immersive experiences. Visitors primarily engage in “duty-free shopping + hotel vacation”, with retail accounting for over 80% of consumption, while dining, entertainment, and cultural experiences account for a much smaller portion.Key Project Developments in the Area.Sanya Taikoo Li: Located in the third phase of the Duty-Free City, this project is a collaboration between Swire Properties and China Duty-Free Group, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan and an area of 360,000 square meters. The project is scheduled to complete its main structure by the end of 2024 and enter internal decoration and leasing phases in 2025.Sanya Vanke Mall: This project, invested by China Resources Land, has a total investment of over 10 billion yuan and a commercial volume of over 800,000 square meters.
Construction will begin in April 2025, with phased openings expected by 2026, featuring world-class entertainment IPs and a comprehensive duty-free experience area.Sanya Haitang Story: A project developed by Chengdu Cultural Tourism Group, this “Hainan version of Kuanzhai Alley” has a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan and a construction area of 163,000 square meters. The first phase is expected to enter trial operations by the end of 2025, with the second phase scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.Golden Phoenix Coast Jewelry City: Developed by Golden Coast Property, this 240,000-square-meter project will feature a jewelry retail and exhibition center, providing a platform for both domestic and international jewelry sales and cross-border e-commerce.Super Mediterranean: Invested by Fosun Group, this project will include a cultural performance center, luxury hotels, a crystal lagoon, fashion sports, surfing, and diving experiences, aimed at creating a “super tourism resort cluster” with Atlantis Sanya. The project targets becoming a flagship tourism destination in Hainan. The Future of Haitang BayClearly, the Blue Power Sports Leisure District project by Xingjing Weiwu Group, if successful, will complement and differentiate from existing regional projects, further filling the “spiritual consumption gap” beyond high-end retail in Haitang Bay.
